BACKGROUND
I've been painting for about ten years. My wife Anne's family has quite a history in Catalina Island. Her parents met there and some of her uncles had restaurants in Avalon. Many times we had mini family reunions over there. We would try to time our vacations to the island when the P-A-P-A artists were over there. It was wonderful to watch them paint around the island and then display their art for sale in the Casino. My brother-in-law Gene Peltier, a Lake Tahoe artist encouraged me to try painting myself. Gene said many of the early California artists were sign painters like myself. Anyway, I already had the brushes. I love plein aire painting in oil and have recently been experimenting with the new Open acrylics. I am a member of the California Art Club and San Gabriel Fine Arts Association.

Inauguration Day
I just spent most of my day putting this blogspot together. My loving wife Anne gave me a digital SLR for Christmas last year, so I finally have a means for taking somewhat decent photos of my paintings. I recently submitted two paintings for an Associate Artists show to the California Art Club and hope they are accepted. I also put five plein aire paintings for sale at the Holy Family Bookstore. It's hard to part with the paintings but it makes you keep at it and try to improve. This is my hope with my new blogspot here that it will force me to keep making more paintings.
